What is 5,6,7…wait?

Due to reality television shows such as So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Best Dance Crew and Dancing with the Stars, dance has evolved to become a popular art to participate in and watch.  Prior to the attention from the media, dance was really only previously interesting to teachers, students and those who were involved a studio.

Dance has now become a way for performers to not only express themselves but for them to also hope to make a career out of it.  Dance students can take their training and technique to a more advanced level beyond just taking classes and teaching for their studio.

Platinum J, a dancer for Baltimore Dance Center, is well on his way to doing what he needs to in order to become famous through dance.  Fame in dance can include television, concerts and even broadway.

Other types of dance can include dance teams for professional football, soccer and basketball teams.  Catrina Kolar, member of the Baltimore Blast and Baltimore Mariners, has been auditioning for many teams such as the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins, hoping to advance in the dance team world.

Lastly, there is the world of dance competitions.  Dance competitions are a way for students to be adjudicated and dance against other studios in order to win awards, become comfortable with performing and receive feedback from professional dance judges.  If you’d like to learn about that realm of dance I have another blog solely dedicated to competing in a dance world.
