SYTYCD season 56?

No really it’s only season six.  They’re giving us a double dose this year, which I must say I can’t complain (only because I have DVR).

Yet, So You Think You Can Dance claims that they are out there looking for America’s favorite dancer.  They look for people that stand out and are unique.  So I wonder why every season it seems that a contemporary dancer is almost always the winner.   Maybe it is because they have been able to pick up the other styles in the short amount of time given.

Or maybe it’s because they’re technique is so ridiculously compelling that it really doesn’t matter.  Except season two when Travis Wall got  stuck with second place.  Hopefully America felt dumb when his piece last season rocked the stage.  At least the show proved it can give great exposure for amazing talent.

Also for eh, not so amazing talent. The audition part of of the show makes a mockery out of dance.  Yes, it is a television show and FOX wants as many viewers as possible.  Personally I’ve never enjoyed watching bad dancing, ever.  I can’t imagine people who love the art would actually like seeing people who “think” they can dance get on the stage.

Why SYTYCD even wastes their time on people who aren’t in the age range or are obviously terrible is beyond me.

My first thought was okay, you look like Travis Wall and you’re using a song that he choreographed to on the show for your audition.  You might have just killed your chances.

My second thought was you instantly captured me with your uniqueness. Oh, that and I love you. Please be able to do other styles.

Tedholm’s Facebook says “[I] think dance is like mashed potatoes. [It] can be creamy or lumpy or somewhere in between… but [I] love it all almost as much as [I] love making it.”

Unfortunately, Tedholm isn’t allowed to speak with the press.  Make sure to check him out on Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube.

Ps. Your mother really named you Teddy TEDholm?

Update: His name is Edward Tedholm. Teddy is a nickname.
