Dance winners for Baltimore’s Got Talent

Everyone who performed last night should be proud.  It was a great show and Baltimore definitely has talent.

But there can be only one winner (for each category that is). Drumroll please…

In the 17 and under category: Jason Kidd, member of the Baltimore Danceattack representing Baltimore Dance Center.

In the 18 and over category:

Joshua Page (J. Beatz) and Jermaine Melvin (Platinum J), also members of the Baltimore Danceattack representing Baltimore Dance Center.
Platinum J and J. Beatz freestyle:

Jason Kidd & J. Beatz:

Congrats guys. I personally have the privilege of dancing with these three.  If you’d like to take class with Platinum or Josh they are also instructors at Baltimore Dance Center.

Or if you are interested in any classes at the studio, booking  or joining Baltimore Danceattack, you can contact the owner/director, Shannon “S Funk” Salemi at 410-574-2444 or mrssfunk@comcast.net.

Dancers fail to audition for Baltimore’s Got Talent

Baltimore’s Got Talent fell short in the dance category.

“Honestly I am very shocked at the lack of dancer turnout,” said Dinesh Ramlogan, Brown Entertainment host, event coordinator and creator of Baltimore’s Got Talent.  “Brown Entertainment called almost all of the dance studios in the Baltimore Metro area to offer them the opportunity to participate in auditions. We were mostly greeted negatively when we told them about our talent show.”

The event this Saturday will only be able to showcase both five youth dance acts and five adult dance acts.  This is compared to the 10 singing adult acts that will be competing against each other.

Why is it only 5 acts came out for an opportunity to win $1,000?

“It is the first year and people are not quite sure what to expect,” said Jenny Aries, mother of  youth contestant Veronica Ramirez.  “People always want to see what happens first before they commit to something new.”

What do you think? Why didn’t you take the chance?

Baltimore’s Got Talent finale Nov. 21

“Baltimore definitely has talent and we are blessed to be able to showcase this during the finale,” said event coordinator Amy Ramlogan.

Get your tickets now.  Once the 860 seats are sold the show will be sold out.

Admission is $20 each and can be purchased at missiontix.

Veronica’s audition

SDC10898One of my students, Veronica Ramirez, auditioned for Baltimore’s Got Talent tonight.  Instead of just supporting her I decided to film her for the public to see.

She told me she hadn’t been able to sleep for the past two nights because she was so worried about the audition.

Watching the video you’d never be able to tell she was nervous.  Veronica rocked her dance (choreographed by Shannon Salemi).

If she wins the youth section of the competition she is looking at a prize of $500.  You’ll be suprised to hear what she plans to do with the money.

For only eight years old, Veronica has a very bright dance future ahead of her and I am excited to see her grow even more in the years to come.

Check her out.  Think she has talent?

Update: Verionica made it to the finale.

Baltimore’s Got Talent needs dancers

Okay, they got it Baltimore…you can sing.

But only a small amount of  dancers have tried out  (which not only shocked me to hear but also disappointed me).

So next Thursday, Oct. 29th, another audition will be held for dancers at 8:00 p.m. at Baltimore Dance Center.  ALL ages are welcomed and encouraged to audition!

I refuse to believe there aren’t any talented dancers lingering around Baltimore. Come out and represent the art-any style, any age, any group!

Remember you are competing for a $1,000 prize for 18 and over and a $500 prize for 17 and younger. You also may get a chance to meet me!

If you make it past this round clear your schedules for the finale on Nov.21st at 6:00 p.m. at the Senator Theatre .  Tickets are already on sale at  www.missiontix.com.

But first you need to get yourself to the audition next week and show them what you’ve got.

So you think you can’t dance?  Help them spread the word and tell those dancers that we all know do have talent to audition.

Reserve a spot by contacting Amy Ramlogan amyramlogan@gmail.com.

Baltimore’s Got Talent extends audition and category

Missed the audition for Baltimore’s Got Talent?  Don’t worry you still have a shot!

Since it seems like everyone is coming down with the flu, there will be another day added to the list.   It’s this Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9:00 a.m-12:00 p.m at the Senator.

Not 18 yet?

There was a large response of parents who wanted their children to have a chance- so now, with parental consent, the kids have their time to shine.

“We are also going to extend it to another category for kids under 18 years of age with a $500 cash prize.   Their category will be a talent category – they can do whatever their talent is – sing, dance, magician, poetry etc…” said Amy Ramlogan.

So whether you were sick, are under 18, or just missed the audition, take your medicine and clear your schedules for this Saturday.  Come out and show just how talented you really are.

Update: Pre-register to get a time slot and audition number.   Send an e-mail to bmoresgottalent@gmail.com or contact Brown Entertainment at 443-220-5174.  You will need an audition number to get seen and spots are filling up quick!

Baltimore’s Got Talent event details

I spoke with Baltimore’s Got Talent representative today, Amy Ramlogan, for the scoop on this event.

Wondering what it’s for? Well, the goal of Baltimore’s Got Talent is to raise $30,000 for the non-profit organization, epiCenter.

Basic Information:

Senator Theatre Oct. 10, 11. 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.

The age range for the auditions is anyone who is 18 years of age and older.

They have been advertising for dancers and singers specifically.  However, Ramlogan said that if there is a huge response of other types of talent they will open up other categories.

So what are they looking for? TALENT!

“In dancers and singers we are looking for artists who have a talent to showcase during the finale that represents the amazing talent that Baltimore has to offer the industries,” said Ramlogan.

After the October auditions the top 10 finalists from each category will then move on to the finale on November 21st.

From there, they will decide on two winners in total.  One singer and one dancer.

“The showcase will be giving $1000 to each winner along with prize packages that include a demo package at The Deep End Recording Studio and a dance package at Baltimore Dance Center,” said Ramlogan.

You can contact Ramlogan or myself for further details.

Think you have what it takes?  Come out and join in on the fun the second week of October.

Update: The audition is free. What do you have to lose?

America’s Got Talent season…Baltimore?

8331_133499471015_133499311015_2962569_2368451_nJust Kidding.  But, Baltimore’s Got Talent is hitting town on Oct. 10.  There is little to be known about this event so far besides the fact that I will be participating (which is all that you really need to know).

Oh, and auditions are the 10th and 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m at the Senator Theatre on York Road.  It’s open to the public but they’re looking for dancers and singers.

So break out those tights and warm up those pipes.

I just hope it’s not like America’s Got Talent.  Waiting in line in the freezing cold at the crack of dawn to audition in the tiniest room they could find is NOT as fun as it sounds.

For more information you can contact them at amyramlogan@gmail.com or check back here for updates.
