My name is Katie Hopper and I’m a 23 year old journalism graduate student from Towson University who loves to dance. I’ve been dancing since I was just three years old. I danced competitively from the age of 10 until I was 19. Up until recently, I was training with Shannon “S Funk” Salemi at Baltimore Dance Center.
I now co-own the newest studio in Baltimore, the Underground Dance Academy. I’m using my past experience in the competition world to advance my students and give them the tools that they need to succeed on the stage. Aside from being an owner, I am also an instructor, competition coach and promoter.
I was a company member of the Baltimore Danceattack and also an instructor for the studio and for the competition team. I spent seven years as an assistant to my old instructor. I love writing, dancing, laughing, and learning. My life revolves around dance whether I am performing, taking class, teaching or writing about it. I wouldn’t change it for the world because I believe the best way to express myself is through my words and my movement.
By combining my love for dance with my love for writing I have been able to fully dive into the world of dance. I’m here to show and share with you my passion in hope that I can help and entertain all the fellow dancers, teachers and lovers of dance as I blog and continue to create and inspire.
